This module is designed to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the world of business and accounting, targeting those students who will undertake a business-related undergraduate degree. The module will consider the influences of the environment on how organisations are structured, managed, lead and promoted, the role of accounting and some basic decision-making techniques that contribute to the ethical, sustainable and efficient development and management of the business organisations in the competitive scenario.
The module will use the knowledge, understanding and experience of students from diverse cultural, social and business backgrounds to contribute into broader skills and intellectual development needed for top level undergraduate university course. An active, independent and exploratory learning approach is adopted in which knowledge and skills are enhanced and consolidated in the context of the values and opinions that surround the business world.
These are set in line with those used for UK A-Level Business with specific additional application of the financial, accounting and tax processes assessed within Level 3 Accounting qualifications.
AO 1: Demonstrate knowledge of terms, concepts, theories, methods and models, including financial accounting, management accounting techniques and tax processes, to show an understanding of how individuals and organisations are affected by and respond to business issues.
AO 2: Apply knowledge and understanding to various business contexts to show how individuals and organisations are affected by and respond to issues.
AO 3: Analyse issues within business, including in financial accounting, management accounting techniques and tax processes, showing an understanding of the impact on individuals and organisations of external and internal influences.
AO 4: Evaluate quantitative and qualitative information to make informed judgements and propose evidence-based solutions to business issues.
